Dear parents,

Thank you for all of your feedback. I hope you had a great Halloween holiday with your kids. First of all, I want to thank all parents of full time kids for reminding your kids to bring books from home. If you have any trouble bringing books from home, please let me know. In the middle of November, we will have new schedule for bringing books which will include me. Secondly, I also want to thank all parents for understanding our new classroom management. We will especially work on kids’ self-discipline, how we can share with our new friends, as well as learning about outdoor playing by providing pictures (thank to Kai, the Kindergarten teacher’s materials). Finally, I want to thank all parents who joined our party last Friday and helped us while we had a short parade.

Our bamboo gardeners learned the last day of October is 万圣节(Halloween) and we can see 南瓜(pumpkins) all over the places.

Our hard work:

Music: 南瓜舞- pumpkin dancing.

Story: 我的五官怎么了?, A story about Halloween

PE: We had to push a big peanut ball to our destination and answer Pei-Pei’s questions (to recognize the cards of parts of our body either with pictures, or without pictures, only Chinese characters). Then, we can help our pumpkin have a colorful nose.

Oct. 27th: Pei-Pei was a dentist of Bamboo gardeners, Pei-Pei read a story of how important it is to keep clean teeth and checked kids’ teeth. We had a form to check how many teeth they have and how many cavities they have (nobody had one—Good ^^). (Math, arts)

Oct. 28th: We discussed if all parts of our body are not working well, what is going to happen? We had a story – 我的五官怎么了。It told us if my eyes want to take rest and don’t want to work, if my ears don’t want to work and want to take a rest, if my nose doesn’t want to work and wants to take a rest and so on, the result of that might be sickness. And if we get sick, sneezing is one of the symptoms. We made a sad face called “sneezing baby” and it helped us to know we need to cover our mouth so we don’t pass the virus to others. (Social studies)

Oct. 29th: We had big pumpkin and small pumpkin that needed to eyes and a mouth. We all made our own pumpkin for decorating the bamboo classroom.

Oct. 30th: We made two bats, black and orange to make our classroom more mysterious. We also made two little cute ghosts to show mom and dad.

Oct. 31st: We had a short parade around Shu Ren. We were so excited to wear our costumes. We had a small party and a few activities indoors with the big kids in front of mom and dad. We had lunch with all teachers and all kids together. In the afternoon, we watched the most famous Chinese movie- 西游记 while eating popcorn and delicious jello. It was a nice day.

Thanks, 谢谢

Meng-Pei
