Dear Parents,
Thanks for viewing our bamboo news every week and giving us feedback.
-By looking at the pictures conveying self-discipline, kids know what is OK to do (可以) and what is not OK (不可以) to do such as, running in the classroom is not OK (不可以), running outside in the playground is OK (可以). The students looked at the pictures and tried to think why it is OK, why it is not OK and what are the consequences of the behavior.
-To encourage kids to participate and join in group activities, they need to earn 5 straws to get a green stamp, otherwise they will get a yellow stamp or red stamp. Only a green stamp can be counted to get a gift. It was very impressive that all kids tried to earn enough straws to get a green stamp at the end of school day. It will also help kids with their self-discipline too.
-We also try to help kids with saying “Please, Thank you, You’re welcome, Goodbye”.
-Depending on our schedule, I will let parents know to prepare for our “sandwich day” in advance.
Our hard work Nov. 3rd- 7th:
We have started working on the inquiry: If our five features are not working and we get sick, what do we need to do, where we need to go and what tools do doctor use to help sick people?
Body movement (PE): We reviewed our pumpkin dance (南瓜舞), head, shoulders, knees, and feet. (头儿、肩膀、膝、脚趾)。
Story: 我的五官怎么了?, 医生,谢谢您。
New rhymes: (我的五官怎么了?) 眼睛、耳朵、鼻和嘴,一起工作好开心。生病要去医院,医生护士帮忙。听诊器,听听心跳。体温计,量量体温。吃完药后又健康。医生护士谢谢您。
*(what’s wrong with my five features?) eyes, ears, nose and mouth, happily working together. Going to to the hospital when sick, getting help from the doctor and nurse. Stethoscope, listen to my heart. Thermometer for checking temperature. After taking medicine, I will be stronger. Thank you, doctor and nurse.*
Nov. 3rd: We introduced people who help us when we get sick, where we need to go to see a doctor. We introduced the tools that doctors usually use on patients such as Stethoscope, Thermometer. (Language)
Nov. 4th: We helped a sick dog doll walk to the hospital(医院), see a doctor(医生), get helped by a nurse(护士) and check the temperature using a thermometer (温度计) and heart using a stethoscope(听诊器) by doctor. (drama play)
Nov. 5th: What is the sign for a hospital and what color is the sign? We had an art project to design the sign. (art)
Nov. 6th: We reviewed and kids helped each other with what they need to do with a sick dog doll.
Nov. 7th: Read a story-医生,谢谢您(thank you, doctor)。 We need to say thank you to all people who help us to get better even mom and dad. (social studies)
PE: on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 15mins.
We are practicing pushing and tossing skills. We drew a big face with five features on the wall and let kids throw a small ball to one of the features.
