Bamboo Garden News, Nov. 24th-26th, 2008

Dear parents,

Thanks for viewing our blog every week. Thanks also for providing all supplies for our remodeling. It will help us to redesign the dramatic play area. Because of your support, children will have a new view of bamboo garden for our next Unit of Inquiry.

At the same time, we welcome two new bamboo gardeners, Charlie and Jaden, who will join us from next week, Dec. 1^st.

Last week: We reviewed everything we learned from Unit 1 and had activities with all children.

This week: We had Thanksgiving activities with all children. We thank all parents who brought us food for the Thanksgiving potluck.

Next week: We will start our second Unit of Inquiry, My family. We will introduce family members and how many members we have.

Thanksgiving Story: the night before Thanksgiving

Nov. 24^th & 25^th – (Art, Language ) We discovered the color of turkeys and what color features do turkeys have after we created our art project, a turkey hat and a turkey. We outlined a turkey on paper. Children were placed in a small group and needed to discuss with their peer what their turkey needed (different color construction paper, colorful cotton balls, colorful plastic rings, and colorful feathers).

Nov. 26^th- (PE) A turkey with colorful feathers- Every child got a different color feather and sang “A Turkey’s Feather”. A child pretended to be a turkey head and the rest of the children followed him/ her and ran in a circle until the song finished.

We also discussed what we will have in our sandwich on Dec. 2^nd, Tuesday. (Evelyn, Paige: Carrot. Desmond: tomato. Kai: broccoli. Luca: Cabbage and ham). School will prepare the materials. Children will make a sandwich by themselves and it also will be their lunch.

Nov,27^th-28^th : Thanksgiving Holiday. School closed

NOTE: Each child is a family member of Bamboo garden. Each child will decorate their own shelf in our bamboo house. Please discuss with your child what he/she would like to bring to decorate his/her own shelf (doll, toy, and so on) and please bring it on Dec. 8^th, next Monday.
