Dear parents,
Thanks for participating in our Chinese New Year celebration on Saturday. All children did really great and I am happy that they were very excited to show all the parents their efforts from the past month. Thanks also to all the parents who brought us the items to continue our theme, my family.

Last week: We had our dumpling cooking class and had a lot of fun activities to learn the most important lucky phrases on Chinese New Year. What do we say when friends visit us or we visit friends on Chinese New Year?

This week: We practiced songs and the dragon dance to be ready for our show.

Tuesday: (PE, music) We got our dragon. We set the roles for the dragon dance and explained how we would move. Also, we discussed the rules while participating in the dragon dance.

Wednesday: (Language, PE) The Chinese foods we have on Chinese New Year are very meaningful. Those we have been learning are Fish, Apple, Orange, Dumpling, Rice cake. Also, On Chinese New Year Eve, we usually eat those foods with family. We called the dinner with family on Chinese New Year Eve “年夜饭, nian ye fan.” “年夜饭 nian ye fan,年夜饭 nian ye fan,贝贝老师想吃 Pei Pei Laoshi wants to eat…(fish, rice cake, dumpling, orange, apple).” Children took turns to say what they wanted to eat for the dinner. After they said what they wanted to eat, everyone looked for the food posted on the ground and said the meaningful lucky phrase for that food.

Thursday: (Art, Language) We made a story together!! We reviewed the story of “年兽来了nian shou lai le” (Nian Shou, the evil spirit, is coming). We discussed the story and what would you draw in different scenes. After discussing, they had better ideas and then they drew it on the paper.

Friday: We had a game reviewing all we learned from the past month about Chinese New Year. Once they got the right answer, they got a sticker. If they gathered three stickers, they would get a train sticker.

P.S. I took pictures of children during free playing time. It looked like they were having fun with all their friends. Please enjoy them. The pictures of “Chinese New Year Celebration” will be updated soon.

Next week, considering the difficulties of parents’ occupations, we will introduce the places where parents work. We will still have a few parents who come to introduce their jobs which are very interesting and meaningful for Pre-K childrens. More and more fun activities will be introduced…..

Thanks, 谢谢
