Dear Parents,
Thanks for coming to the Solano parade. It was fun to gather all parents with your children to join the special event.
Please welcome our two new children, Miles and Alex, who join us from Feb. Thank you for all parents who brought us items from home so that we can enjoy pretending to be parents. This week, thank you Lan (Tian Tian’s mom) who brought us a simple biology experiment so we could learn what she does as a biologist. The simple biology experiment is below: (Children watched how Pei and Jie did the experiment)
Pei : With a dirty hand
Jie: With a clean hand
We both put finger prints on an agar plate. A few days later, we will all check what happens to the plate.

Last week, we had our Chinese New Year Celebration and we all did a great job for the show.

This week, we continue our last theme, my family. After learning about our family members, we tried to discover the locations of our parents’ work and we had Lan’s experiment as a biologist.

Music, body movement: 小椅子- 小椅子,你别歪,我请妈妈(爸爸,爷爷,奶奶…) 坐下来,我给妈妈倒杯茶,再给妈妈搥搥背,妈妈乐得笑呵呵。 (The music is about how to help mom and dad relax after they come home from work)
Story: 爸爸今天不上班(Dad is not working today), 妈妈回家了(Mom is coming home).

Monday: (Language, Social studies) There are 6 pictures of working places (Office, school, lab, home, zoo, hospital) according to parents’ information. We introduced the 6 pictures first, and we had dolls of parents. Children all got a chance to walk the doll to the place their parents work.

Tuesday: (Language, math) We continue working to know the places parents work. We introduced 大 (big), 小 (small) by showing the clothes brought from parents. Children tried on big clothes and small clothes from a baby.

Wednesday: (art, language) We introduce all the items from parents that father and mother might need to work. We made art project of matching a big person and small person on the paper, and the big person needed big clothes and the small person needed small clothes.

Thursday: (art, language, math) After we introduced all the things parents need for working such as a suit, tie, lipstick, hat, briefcase….. We tried to finish the art project to see what will the big person needs (children chose who they wanted the person to be, mother or father)? What will the small person need (it could be themselves, or another small person) ?

Friday: (drama) After we introduced all the things that parents need for work, they tried them on. It was so fun to see how excited they were to pretend they were going to work.

Next week, we will have another parent to come in and introduce his job. We will discover what children can do to help parents with housework.

Thanks, 谢谢,
Pei 贝贝
