Dear parents,
Happy Holiday!! Hope you all had a wonderful break. We did find out the results of the experiment from Tian Tian’s mom:

Pei: with a dirty hand–a few days later, we found out germs grow in the plate
Jie: with a clean hand–a few days later, we found out there were nothing in the plate just like before we fingerprints.

Questions to children: What if we don’t wash our hands before eating? Why is it so important to wash hands? What do you think would happen if you didn’t wash your hands?

Pei and Jie tried to have the experiment again so children who missed it could see it too.

Last week, we tried to learn about the parents’ workplaces. We also learned what is 大-da(big) and 小-xiao (small) while we were trying to dress up in clothes from parents and babies.

This week, as our theme goes on, we learn that even a little thing such as cleaning up the toys, putting all books back to shelves is still a big help for parents.

Music: (body movement, )1.走走走走走,想想我们要清理哪里呢? 柜子,桌子,椅子,地板……t
2. the song we had for last week- 小椅子
Story: 我们什么都会做 (we can do everything), 妈妈的礼物 (mom’s present).

Monday: (Social studies) We read a story of “We can do everything”-about helping with housework. Discussed what parents usually do after working on the weekend. By showing pictures, what are people doing in the pictures? (sweeping, mopping, cleaning toys, cleaning desk…)

Tuesday: (math) After we discovered what parents usually do in our house on the weekend, we had an activity to see who does the most housework. We had a scale. For example, we asked all children who usually “washes dishes” after meals? We can see which side is heavier means who wash dishes the most. We had the same activities and different housework over the next few days. P.S. we all tried to help parents do housework at home, sweeping the floor, mopping the floor, cleaning the desk, cleaning up toys and books. In the next few days, we checked if children helped the family. Children got a star if they helped parents.

Wednesday: (music , PE) We had a fun music excercise. Every one had a paper and we made a broom. As music played, we thought where to clean in the classroom. We went around the classroom and cleaned the whole classroom with music.

Thursday: (art) We read a story of “mom’s gift”. After knowing how important helping family is, we had a family tree with hearts and pictures on the tree.

Friday: (art, social study) We read the story of “mom’s gift” again. It’s important to show your appreciation to people in your family that you love. We made a flower and children wanted to thank people in their family.

Next week: Where do we live? House? What kind of materials do we need to build a house? We will have two parents come in to introduce jobs on Wednesday and Friday after winter break.

Thank you
Peipei
