Winnie Bears (2-3 Year Olds) September
Language/Reading: Stories- Autumn and the Autumn Festival
We started off the school year by reading stories about making new friends, having good manners, and adjusting to school. Recently we have been reading stories about Autumn and the legend behind the Autumn Festival. The children learned about Hou Yi (后羿) and Chang E (嫦娥) and why we eat moon cakes. We also discussed what happens during autumn and why the leaves change color.

Mathematics: Counting and Patterns
We have been learning how to count and recognize the characters from 1 to 10 (一,二, 三,四,五,六,七,八,九,十) by counting the days on our calendar and playing BINGO. We have also been using pictures of different leaves to introduce the concept of patterning.

Science: Autumn leaves
What happens to leaves during Autumn? What happens to the weather? What do we need to wear? To explore the answers to these questions, the Winnie Bears and Panda Bears took a walk around our school to look at the trees. Winnie Bears have also been playing with bubbles in our sensory table to explore the way they feel.

Music: 我的朋友在哪里
We have learned how to sing several songs since the start of the school year, such as the “Hand-Washing” song and the “Good Morning” song. We are currently working on the “Where are my friends?”
Body Movement: Morning Exercise
We have been doing different stretches in the morning following instrumental music.

Art: Autumn Trees and Festival Lanterns
After talking about the leaves changing color, we used finger-paint to paint leaves onto tree branches. We also made paper lanterns in accordance with the Autumn Festival celebration.
