Dear Panda Bear Families,

Language: (What a beautiful umbrella?)
After discussing about shapes, looking and ways of using an umbrella, we wondered how people make an umbrella. We looked at a poster and discussed the pictures: People needed to choose the color for the cover, cut out the triangles, sew the pieces together, and put the handle on it.

Social study: (Sharing an umbrella with friends?)
Story: 避雨. We have been talking about diversity, focusing on similarities and differences. How do we help our friends if they need a favor on a rainy day? Sharing an umbrella would be a great idea and our friends won’t get wet and catch a cold. We are caring for our friends and helping them with what we can do.

Art:
We have started introducing Chinese New Year! We made a firecracker out of a tiger. (Year of Tiger/2010)

Music: (伞可以做什么?- What can we do with an umbrella?)
可以做什么? 遮太阳,可以做什么? 避风雨,可以做什么? 当拐杖,还可以做什么? 看不见了遮住你。

PE: An umbrella can make a lot of different shapes. When it is open, close, and folded, how do we perform these shapes with our body? We also made an umbrella by working with our friends.

We have started talking about Chinese New Year. It is the year of the tiger. We have introduced the story, 年兽来了-the “year” monster is coming。What do we do to scare it away? We made our tiger firecracker. We played a game with the whole group called, 年兽来了年兽来了,怎么办,怎么办? (Monster is here, Monster is here, What to do? What to do?) We will have some lucky phrases for the children to trace.
