Thank you for your interest in working at Shu Ren International School. We are looking for individuals with these important qualities: (1) passionate about and dedicated to Mandarin English immersion education; (2) open to diverse ideas and cultures; and (3) interested in making a significant contribution to our school’s start and future success and becoming a founding member of our school. Our school does not just teach Chinese language; rather, we teach all subject areas in Chinese and English. No matter what your native language is, Shu Ren is a place where diverse people come together, respect each other, learn from each other, and dedicate themselves to providing the best education possible to our students.

We are currently seeking candidates for the following positions for the 2010 – 11 school year:
1. Early Elementary Level (K to 3rd Grade) Mandarin and English Teachers
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and qualities:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related field. Masters Degree preferred.
- For native English speakers, we prefer those who have taught in early elementary grades in the U.S. For native Mandarin speakers, we prefer candidates who have taught both in the U.S. and overseas in China or Taiwan. For all teachers, experience at an IB school is preferred though not required.
- Experience developing or possessing the skills to develop a multidisciplinary unit of inquiry by integrating key subject areas such as language, math, science, social studies, visual arts, music, or PE surrounding one central theme. Language instruction alone is not sufficient experience.
- Strong commitment to Mandarin and English immersion education.
- Open to diverse ideas and cultures and interested and curious about other languages and cultures.
- Able to communicate effectively and frequently with parents. For native Mandarin speakers, the candidate should be able to fluently communicate with non-Mandarin speaking parents in English.
- Familiarity and experience with the IB’s PYP curriculum framework is preferred.
- A good problem solver.
2. Pre-primary Mandarin teachers and teacher aides
Requirements, in addition to those outlined above, for Early Elementary Teachers:
- At least 6 units of ECE are required; 12 ECE units are preferred.
- Knowledge about California childcare center licensing regulations.
